2008-2009 Permit & Bear Pass Renewal
Parking & Transportation will not be offering automatic renewal this year for parking permits and the Bear Pass due to changes in administrative procedures and P&T’s use of the commuter benefit vendor, WageWorks. All customers purchasing pre-tax through payroll deduction will need to take action through WageWorks to request a new permit or Bear Pass for the upcoming fiscal year.
Action is needed by July 10th
By placing your permit or pass order by July 10th, customers will receive the product ordered by mail to their home address by August 1st.
Customers newly enrolling for a permit or Bear Pass for the upcoming fiscal year should do so by July 10th through WageWorks, as well, in order to receive the product in the mail by August 1st.
WageWorks- Vendor Providing Pre-Tax Management for P&T
The Parking & Transportation Department (P&T) is contracting services with WageWorks, a commute benefit management company, to provide pre-tax sales administration of annual employee campus parking permits and the employee AC Transit Bear Pass. Through WageWorks website or by calling WageWorks, employees can renew and order annual parking permits and the Bear Pass for pre-tax payment through payroll deduction.

WageWorks administration, just as the transit and parking programs exist today, allows payment for all or part of the commuting expenses with pre-tax dollars. If monthly commuting expenses exceed the pre-tax limits, the remainder of the expense will be deducted on an after-tax basis.
Eligibility for Pre-Tax Payroll Deduction Annual Parking Permits and Annual AC Transit Bear Pass
Faculty, staff, and other select employees on UC Berkeley payroll with appointments of 40% or more time, through the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2009).
Enrollment
You can enroll for a parking permit and/or Bear Pass via the WageWorks website 24/7. You can also take these actions via the phone, Monday through Friday between 5:00am and 5:00pm.

Complete your order by 8:59pm, July 10th in order to receive you permit or pass in the mail by August 1st. WageWorks will mail the permit or pass to the address you include in your profile. WageWorks mails product in a nondescript envelope to reduce the possibility of theft – make sure your permit or pass isn’t mistaken for other “junk” mail you might receive.
Tips and Info for WageWorks On-Line Transactions
First time going to WageWorks - make sure to sign in as a first time user. Use the full name the UCB payroll has on file and the last four digits of your employee ID number to authenticate into the system. You should be able to authenticate if you're already enrolled in a program and/or if you meet the eligibility requirements described above. Once you have selected your user name and password, click on the commuter button and take your enrollment actions.
